Library to host ‘Code Academy’

Children ages 7-10 who are interested in learning to code may sign up and attend Code Academy at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Martin County Library, Fairmont. Because of space limitations, those interested are asked to pre-register by stopping in or calling (507) 238-4207. There is no cost to attend this event.

Class of 1955 to meet

Fairmont High School class of 1955 and spouses will meet 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Fairmont Holiday Inn.

Firearm safety training begins next week

A five-week spring firearm safety training course will be held in the cafeteria at Fairmont Elementary School. There is no pre-registration. Classes will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays March 21(registration), 25, 28, April 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25 and 29. A field test will be held at 8 a.m. April 27 at the Fairmont Trap Club. Fee for the class is $15. All students must be at least 11 years old as of March 21. Students younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian and have a copy of their birth certificate at registration. Students will receive a Firearm Safety Certificate upon satisfactory completion of the course. It is required that all individuals born after Jan. 1, 1980, have a Firearm Safety Certificate to purchase any type of hunting license in Minnesota.
