Fairmont girls, BEA boys win golf triangular

ELMORE — The Blue Earth Area Bucs boys golfers came out on top at Tuesday’s triangular against the Fairmont Cardinals and the Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman Jaguars at Minn-Iowa Golf Course.

BEA led the way with a team score of 144, including the three lowest scores of the day from Gaven Bruellman (34), Hunter Spencer (36) and Manning Lane (36).

Bruellman started his day with three consecutive birdies and ended 1-under par, while Spencer birdied the sixth and ninth holes.

Ashton Lloyd notched the final contributing score for the Bucs with a 38.

Braden Gudahl shot a 39 for the Bucs, while Max Ehrich hit a 44.

Tanner DeWar led Fairmont with a 38 after he birdied Hole 1. Colby Grotte finished second for the Cardinals with a 44, Alexander Moeller ended third with a 46 and Mathew Cone added the final Cardinal contributing score of 48 to create their team score of 176.

Brock Lutterman added a 49 for the Cardinals, while David Maakestad shot a 51.

Wyatt Risk led the Jaguars with his nine-hole score of 48, while Mitchell Steuber added a 52. Brett Davis and Colby Brudelie each shot 61 for the final Jaguars’ contributing scores to create their team 222.

BEA (3-0) hits the greens again at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Minn-Iowa Golf Course when the Bucs host St. Peter.

Fairmont (2-1, 1-1 Big South) travels to the Marshall boys invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday where the Cardinals will face Detroit Lakes, Mankato East, Marshall, Minnewaska Area and New Ulm.

The Jaguars (0-1) go to Riverside Golf Course in Blue Earth where the Jaguars will face Maple River.

Madelia 172, Martin County West 175, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 197, Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 218 — For the second time in as many days, the Blackhawks and Mavericks faced off on the course, this time in a quadrangular at Fox Lake Golf Course in Sherburn.

Dawson Weber was the day’s medalist with a nine-hole score of 38 for MCW.

The Mavericks’ Mitchell Weber ended with the third-lowest score of the day after he birdied the ninth hole for a 43.

Hunter Schmidt shot 44 for the Mavericks, while Carson Kahler added the Mavericks’ final contributing score of 50 to make the MCW team score of 175.

Nic Miller shot a 55 for the Mavericks, while Zac Forsberg added a 70.

Carson Wihlm led Madelia with a nine-hole 40, while Jared Henry and Colby Wihlm each shot a 43 and Colin Wihlm hit a 46.

MCW (3-1) hits the course again Tuesday when the Mavericks face Fairmont at 4:30 p.m. at Interlaken Golf Club.

West Hancock 199, North Union 202, Eagle Grove 206 — West Hancock took first in a triangular meet Monday night at County Greens Golf Club in Armstrong.

North Union’s Hayden Nicoson had the low score of the day when he notched a 44, while Jacob Burt scored a 51, Michael Hanson shot a 53 and Carter Anderson hit a 54.

North Union (1-1) tees off again Thursday at County Greens Golf Course when the Warriors face Algona and Estherville Lincoln Central.

Girls Golf

Fairmont 170, BEA 191, GHEC/ML/Truman incomplete — Bergen Senf led the day with a nine-hole score of 38 for the Cardinals, while Maggy Totzke was close behind with her second-place finish at 40 shots during triangular action at Minn-Iowa Golf Course in Elmore.

Annika Haugen added a 42 for the Cardinals and Isabell Geiger’s 44 completed the Cardinals’ 170.

Soveig Senf shot a 48 and Bailey Martinson added a 53 for Fairmont.

Mateja Lane led BEA with 42 shots, while Maddie Armon and Claire Jordan each birdied one hole on their way to 49s. Serina Wirth notched the final BEA contributing score with a 51 to create the Bucs final total of 191.

Amber Stein shot a 76 for the Jaguars, while Lexie Flohrs hit a 77.

Fairmont (9-1, 2-0) hits the course at the Marshall County Club on Saturday for a 9 a.m. invitational against Detroit Lakes, Mankato East, Marshall, Minnewaska Area, New Ulm and Worthington.

BEA plays host to St. Peter at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Minn-Iowa Golf Course in Elmore.

JWP 225, Madelia 231, MCW 248, LCWM incomplete — Leah Amborn led MCW with a score of 50 at Fox Lake Golf Club in Sherburn on Tuesday during quadrangular action.

Katelyn Lyon added a 62 for the Mavericks, while Macey Becher hit a 67 and Natalie Smith notched a 69.

JWP’s Kirsten Thell had the meet’s low score of 49.

MCW (1-2) takes on Fairmont at Interlaken Golf Club at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
