Area sports rescheduled

Arctic-like weather created more postponements for area sporting events on Tuesday night.

The following high school athletic games and/or meets have been rescheduled:

• The Truman/Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain Jaguars boys basketball team will have a quick turnaround by playing host to the Madelia Blackhawks at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in a Valley Conference game in Northrop.

• The North Union Warriors girls and boys basketball lineups will replace Nashua-Plainfield with Eagle Grove on Saturday in Armstrong.

The varsity girls game tips off at 2:45 p.m., followed by the varsity boys contest.

• The Fairmont Area Cardinals girls hockey team will travel to Waseca for a Big South Conference game on Monday, Feb. 4, with the Bluejays.

• The Blue Earth Area Bucs girls basketball squad will play host to the Medford Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12.

The Blue Earth Area Bucs boys hoopsters will play host to nonconference opponent Waterville-Elysian-Morristown at 6 p.m. that same night.

Girls 12U hockey team nets 2-1 mark

FAIRMONT — The Cavers Realty 12U girls hockey team of Fairmont compiled a 2-1 record during weekend ice action.

Mariah Moeller erupted for five goals and one assist, while Ilana Moeller netted a hat trick to power Fairmont to a 14-2 rout over the Boji Blizzard on Friday at Martin County Arena.

Keara Flanagan distributed three assists and tallied one goal for Cavers, Brittney Lopau netted two goals and one helper, while Jayda Healey chipped in one goal and one assist.

Jozie Hoefker and Shaye Dietz each scored once, while teammates Charlie Clow and Alexandra Martin each doled out two assists.

Abigail Sundeen and Isabella Larson combined to handle Fairmont’s goaltending duties.

Albert Lea shut out Fairmont, 5-0, Saturday in Albert Lea.

Ilana Moeller made an incredible 52 saves for Cavers, which managed just six shots on goal.

Fairmont rebounded for a 7-1 triumph over Worthington on Sunday in Worthington.

Ilana Moeller produced three goals, Karissa Newville collected two goals and one assist, while Clow and Mariah Moeller dished out two helpers apiece.

Hoefker and Flanagan rounded out Cavers’ scoring with one goal apiece, while Dietz and Lopau doled out one helper each.

Sundeen made three saves in net for Fairmont, which tallied 18 shots on goal.

The Cavers Realty 12U girls team plays host to Marshall at 6 p.m. Saturday at Martin County Arena in Fairmont.
