Lofstrom, North Union cagers coast by Lake Mills

ARMSTRONG — Junior power forward Chloe Lofstrom produced a game-leading 23 points to help power the North Union Warriors to a 63-29 Top of Iowa basketball rout over the Lake Mills Bulldogs on Tuesday night in Armstrong.

Lofstrom also grabbed a team-best six rebounds and doled out three assists, while teammate Maddie Rolling generated nine points and pulled down four boards.

Hope Steinberger collected stellar all-around numbers of six points, five rebounds and a game-high seven assists for North Union, while Rory McClellan and Vanessa Von Bank scored eight and six points, respectively.

The Warriors scorched the nets on 21 of 37 shots from 2-point range for 56.8 percent and made 5 of 14 attempts behind the 3-point arc for 35.7 percent.

The Warriors built a 30-18 halftime advantage and never trailed.

North Union (6-2) travels to Eagle Grove on Friday.

Martin County West 55, St. Clair 40 — Point guard Alyssa Williamson erupted for a game-high 22 points to help steer the Mavericks to a 15-point Valley Conference victory over the Cyclones on Tuesday night in St. Clair.

Williamson also distributed three assists and pocketed three steals for MCW.

Marissa Whitehead netted 11 points for the Mavericks, while teammates Cheyenne Owens and Karlee Thiesse each neared double-double territory in the win. Owens scored 10 points to complement eight rebounds, while Thiesse tallied nine points to go with a game-best nine rebounds.

Thiesse also pocketed three steals, while Madison Klima garnered a game-high five steals and dished out three assists.

The Mavericks made 20 of 51 field goals, including 2 of 6 from 3-point range, and added 13 of 23 from the free throw line.

The Mavericks stormed out to a 28-14 halftime lead and never trailed for the duration.

Martin County West (3-4) travels to Madelia on Friday night.

Medford 63, Fairmont 42 — Emma Kniefel poured in a game-best 22 points to steer the Tigers to a 21-point non-league triumph over the Cardinals on Tuesday night in Medford.

Cadence Becker and Lexi Lunn each delivered 12 points to top Fairmont’s effort, while Madysen Allen scored six points.

Taylor Crissinger distributed four assists, grabbed five rebounds and scored three points for the Cardinals, who made 15 of 31 field goals — including 5 of 9 from 3-point range.

The Tigers capitalized on an 18-plus edge in the turnover department to pocket the win.

Fairmont (3-5) plays host to St. Peter on Thursday night.

Brittney Mosloski scored 15 points and Natalie Tonne netted 14 points to power Fairmont to a 50-35 win over Medford during B-squad action Tuesday night.

Emma Gudahl and Cadence Becker chipped in seven and six points, respectively.

Boys Basketball

Blue Earth Area 88, LeSueur-Henderson 80 — Cameron Anderson’s career-high 36 points led the Bucs in a second-half boys basketball comeback over the Giants on Tuesday night in Blue Earth.

Anderson also brought down five rebounds and took five steals to lead BEA.

Caelan Sanders put up 19 points to help the Buc offense, while Carter Bell scored 16.

Grant Strukel scored seven points while pulling down six boards and forcing four steals.

Austin Thielfoldt scored five points with a team-high seven rebounds and seven assists along with three steals.

Burke Nesbit led the way for the Giants with 27 points.

Blue Earth Area (5-1) hosts Waseca Friday night.

Lake Mills 82, North Union 38 — The Bulldogs ran through the Warriors on Tuesday night in Armstrong.

Elliott Hagebock led North Union with seven points, while Noah Morphew scored six and Brendan Anderson put up five.

North Union (0-7) travels to Eagle Grove, Iowa, on Friday night.

Truman/Martin Luther/ Granada-Huntley-East Chain 75, Madelia 65 — Paxton Gravlin’s 24 points helped lift the Jaguars over the Blackhawks during Valley Conference action on Tuesday night in Madelia.

Gravlin shot 9-for-14 from the field to put up his 24, while dishing out three assists.

Adam Heckman scored 15 points for the Jaguars while bringing down eight rebounds and Isaac Johnson scored 12 points and grabbed eight boards.

Carter Spear and Owen Wolter each scored eight points, while sharing the Jaguars’ team lead by distributing four assists each, with Wolter also forcing five steals.

Madelia’s Ja’Sean Glover led the team with 25 points, while Carson Wihlm scored 14 points.

The Jaguars shot 21 of 34 from two point range and 6 of 18 from three, while shooting 15-20 from the free throw line.

The Jaguars (3-3) play host to Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Thursday in Truman.

Madelia (3-2) travels to Sherburn on Thursday to face Martin County West in a Valley Conference contest.
