St. Peter volleyball defeats Fairmont in BSC match
ST. PETER — The St. Peter Saints bounced back from a Game 2 loss to outduel the Fairmont Cardinals, 25-14, 20-25, 25-16, 25-10, during Big South Conference volleyball action Thursday night in St. Peter.
Senior outside spiker Bailee Swanson produced another triple-double performance by pounding out 17 kills, digging up 20 spikes and connecting on 14-for-14 serves en route to a pair of aces for Fairmont.
Kylee Harder contributed 17 digs to the Cardinals’ defensive effort, while teammate Jen Moeller supplied 10 digs.
Andrea Westcott distributed 11 set assists and completed 9 of 9 serving to complement four digs for Fairmont, while Taylor Crissinger doled out six set assists to go with four digs, three block assists and two kills.
Cambrie Anderson connected on 10 of 10 serves and added four digs for the Cardinals, while teammate Abby Tonder chipped in six digs, four solo blocks and two kills.
Fairmont (4-7) plays host to New Ulm at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Cardinal Gym.
Fairmont rallied to defeat St. Peter in B-squad action, 25-16, 22-25, 18-16, on Thursday night in St. Peter.
Sabrina Segar drilled four kills, dished out seven set assists and served up two aces for the Cardinals, while teammate Kaitlyn Scott generated three kills and five set assists.
Natalie Tonne added three kills and two aces serves for Fairmont.
St. Peter posted a 25-14, 25-19 win over Fairmont during C-squad action Thursday night in St. Peter.
Hannah Sanvig completed 10 of 11 serves for one ace to go with two set assists for the Cardinals, while Emily Frank tallied two kills to go with one ace on 5-for-6 serving.
Vanessa Bliesmer added two kills and was 2-for-2 serving for Fairmont.
St. Clair 3, Martin County West 0 — The Cyclones swept the Mavericks, 25-23, 25-18, 25-19, during Valley Conference action Thursday night in St. Clair.
Karlee Thiesse controlled the defensive side of the court for the Mavericks by making 19 digs, while Madison Klima had 18 digs and Shaylynn Anderson supplied nine digs to go with eight set assists and three service aces.
Cheyenne Owens collected six digs, while Dani Nelson had five and Hannah Olson added four digs to complement six kills for MCW.
Sami Meyer helped her teammates by distributing 10 set assists and Logan Kosbab had three service aces and three kills to help the Mavericks’ offense.
Martin County West (2-4) competes in the Jackson County Central Invitational on Saturday in Jackson.
Waseca 3 Blue Earth Area 0 — The Bluejays swept the Bucs, 25-20, 25-10, 25-18, during Big South Conference action Thursday night in Waseca.
Kiera Osmundson defended the Bucs’ side with nine digs, while Hannah Johnson helped the defense with seven digs and the offense with six kills. Adri Granillo recorded six digs and went 9-for10 serving with two aces.
Maddie Armon set up her teammates with 11 set assists and went 11-for-12 serving for BEA, while teammate Alyssa Ripley contributed six kills.
Emma Dahl chipped in six digs and went 8-for-8 serving to help the Bucs.
Blue Earth Area (1-8, 0-3 Big South) travels to St. James for their next match at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
