No. 6 Warriors declaw Bearcats
ALLISON, Iowa — Hope Steinberger homered and tripled to power the Iowa Class 1A, No. 6-ranked North Union Warriors to a 6-2 softball victory over the North Butler Bearcats on Friday night.
Steinberger went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored twice, while Katelyn Thackery went 2-for-4 and scored two runs for the Warriors.
Breanna Anderson and Rory McClellan each went 2-for-4 at the plate, with Anderson scoring a run and McClellan netting one RBI.
Kate Anderson doubled in one run in three at-bats for North Union, while Kaitlyn Bierstedt chipped in an RBI without a hit.
Brooklyn Prochniak and Shawna Person each contributed a hit to the Warriors’ win.
Kate Anderson allowed two runs — one earned — on six hits, struck out 10 and walked six in seven innings of work to earn the complete-game win.
North Union (13-3) competes in the Fort Dodge Invitational today at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex.
