No. 5 Warriors edge Rockford
SWEA CITY — Kate Anderson smacked a two-run home run and Breanna Anderson singled in a pair of runs to help guide the Iowa Class 1A, No. 5-ranked North Union Warriors to a 6-3 softball victory over Rockford on Monday.
Kate Anderson allowed three runs — two earned — on seven hits, recorded a game-high 12 strikeouts and walked four in seven innings pitched to earn the complete-game win.
Hope Steinberger went 2-for-3 with a run scored for North Union, Bre Anderson scored twice, while Rory McClellan supplied an RBI double.
North Union (6-1) plays host to Lake Mills at 6 p.m. tonight in Swea City.

Ehlert and Kim earn all-section
FAIRMONT — Fairmont junior Jordan Ehlert and Cardinals senior Ericka Kim were selected to the 2018 all-Section 2AA softball team for their postseason performances.
Kim, who earned academic all-state accolades, shared the team MVP with shortstop Courtney Williams and was tabbed as most improved offensive player.
Ehlert, who compiled an 11-6 record, was tabbed as the Cardinals’ most valuable defensive player.
Fairmont finished with a 12-11 overall record and a final four appearance in the sectional tournament.
