Senf, DeWar top Fairmont golfers’ sweep of MCW

FAIRMONT — Bergen Senf merited nine-hole medalist honors, while Tanner DeWar earned runner-up medalist accolades over 18 holes to guide the Fairmont Cardinal golfers to a sweep over the Martin County West Mavericks on Monday at Interlaken Golf Course.

Senf connected for a meet-best four pars to pace her nine-hole total of 42 to top the Cardinal girls’ 207-286 victory over the Mavericks.

Taylor Eicholz netted one par to highlight a 54 for Fairmont, Madison Pierce made par once en route to a 55, while Alexa Mosloski fired a 56 to cap the counting scores.

Bailey Martinson (58) and Anna Nordquist (61) completed the Cardinals’ effort.

Leah Amborn carded a team-best 55 for MCW, while Skylar Tumbleson sank one par to highlight her nine-hole total of 56.

Natalie Smith tallied a 78 and Gianna Hemmingsen fired a 97 to round out the Mavericks’ scores.

In the boys’ non-league dual meet, DeWar and MCW’s Dawson Weber locked up in a low-scoring duel. Dawson Weber tallied a 37-37-74 for a 2-over medalist mark, but DeWar’s team-best 39-38-77 claimed runner-up honors and paced the Cardinals’ 338-361 team win.

DeWar netted a meet-best 13 pars to complement one birdie, while Dawson Weber penciled in 12 pars to go with a meet-best two birdies for MCW.

Daniel Brummond connected for a career-best eight pars to fuel his 43-43-86 round for Fairmont, while Bryan Grotte tallied a 41-46-87, including six pars and one birdie, to pack scoring punch for the home team. Thomas Havnen made five pars en route to a 47-41-88 to cap the Cardinals’ counting marks.

Jake Harris chipped in a 50-48-98, including two pars, for Fairmont, while Alexander Moeller added a 50-49-99, paced by four pars.

Tristan Rabbe sank four pars and one birdie to trigger a 43-43-86 for MCW, Mitchell Weber delivered three pars and one birdie en route to a 46-42-88, while Cam Ellanson shot a 58-55-113, including one par.

Carson Kahler (66-51-117) and Nick Miller (64-71-135) each made one par to round out the Mavericks’ effort.

Fairmont boys and girls golfers play host to Jackson County Central at 3:30 p.m. today at Interlaken Golf Course in Fairmont.

Martin County West plays host to Heron Lake-Okabena and Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Fox Lake Golf Course.
