Dodge County hockey claws Fairmont Area

KASSON — Adam Colvin produced back-to-back goals during a three-goal third period, while teammate Alex Nelson earned a playmaker by doling out three assists to pace the Dodge County Wildcats’ 6-1 victory over the Fairmont Area Cardinals during non-league hockey action Friday night.

Cade Spreiter cashed in the Wildcats’ only power-play goal of the night off a double-assist from Nelson and Keegan Kuhn 14:30 into the opening period.

Dodge County needed only 18 seconds to double its margin when Tony Porisch converted Brenden Postier’s pass into an even-strength net-finding shot.

Alex Haala provided the Wildcats’ solo goal of the second period by cashing in a double-assist from Thomas Hamlin and Nelson at the 7:04 mark for a 3-0 lead.

Fairmont Area opened the third period with its only goal of the contest to close within two 5:39 into the final frame.

Dodge County, however, countered with three consecutive goals to cap its triumph. Peyton Johnson triggered the point production with a goal off a Nelson pass with 7:39 left in the third.

Colvin then converted Spreiter’s assist into a goal at 9:45 before netting an unassisted score at 11:52.

Fairmont Area goaltender Tyson Geerdes turned away 32 of Dodge County’s 38 shots on goal, while Wildcats’ netminder Cole Kundert halted 18 of the Cardinals’ 19 shots to net the win.

Unfortunately, no information was provided by either team on the Cardinals’ lone goal of the contest.
