Bantams open hockey season

FAIRMONT — The Carlson Dental of Fairmont Bantams team started the season 0-4-1 in hockey action.

Fairmont tied with New Ulm/Sleepy Eye, 1-1 on Nov. 26. Alec Reutzel scored Fairmont’s goal with the assist from Seth Becker. Dakota Hoefker made 21 saves in the tie.

The team then lost to Windom, 6-2. Dominic Hegdal and Becker had a goal each, while Carson Johnson, Thomas Claeys and Reutzel had assists.

Cole Ziemer was in goal and recorded 25 saves.

On Dec. 2, Redwood Valley shut out Fairmont, 4-0, with Hoefker rejecting 34 shots.

Later that day, Marshall took a 4-2 win over Fairmont. Alexander Moeller and Hegdal scored Fairmont’s goals with Noah Nelson chipping in an assist.

The next day, Worthington netted a 4-2 victory over Fairmont.

Moeller handled Fairmont’s scoring with assists from Reutzel, Carter Beebe and Nikolas Flanagan.

Hoefker racked up 51 saves on the day for Fairmont.
