Fairmont 12U starts season 2-1

FAIRMONT — The Caver’s Realty of Fairmont 12U girls hockey team went 2-1 to open the season over the weekend.

Fairmont beat Okoboji, 6-1, and Worthington, 5-4, on Saturday in Worthington before losing to New Ulm Sleepy Eye, 8-0, on Sunday in Sleepy Eye. Hadley Artz made 87 total saves, while Fairmont recorded 49 shots on goal in the weekend action.

Hannah Goerndt and Bella Larson each scored twice in Fairmont’s early win against Okoboji. Chantel Moeller and Karissa Newville had a goal scored and an assist, while Jozie Hoefker, Shaye Dietz and Abi Sundeen each doled out an assist apiece.

Chantel Moeller then delivered four goals, including the game-winning score in overtime, and an assist against Worthington. Corene Moeller assisted on a goal and scored once. Goerndt assisted on two goals, and Larson finished with an assist.
