Fairmont Area boys soccer ties Jordan, 1-1

JORDAN — Fairmont Area striker Tom Havnen delivered a second-half goal to help the Cardinals earn a 1-all tie with the Jordan Hubmen during non-league soccer action Saturday in Jordan.

With the Cardinals trailing 1-0, Havnen produced an unassisted score during the final 40-minute segment to draw the visitors even on the scoreboard.

Goalkeeper Malachi Anderson netted the win by recording four saves for Fairmont Area, which generated 12 shots on goal.

Fairmont Area (0-9-1) plays host to New Ulm at 7 p.m. tonight at Kot Soccer Complex in Fairmont in a Big South Conference game.

Josh Bergt converted Jackson Francis’ second assist of the day into the eventual game-winning goal to lift Fairmont Area to a 3-2 victory over Jordan during junior varsity action Saturday in Jordan.

Thomas Klanderud cashed in Cole Christopher’s assist for the Cardinals’ initial goal of the contest before Christopher notched a goal off a pass from Francis.

Netminder Tyson Geerdes collected the win by making 12 stops for Fairmont Area, which generated 12 shots on goal.

St. Paul Highland Park 1, Fairmont Area 0 — Seylon Versailles-Shiggs produced the nonconference game’s only goal, while netkeeper Mariana Cournoyer delivered a shutout to steers the Scots to a victory over the Cardinals on Saturday in St. Paul.

Fairmont Area’s Joni Becker nearly knotted the game at 1-all by drilling a shot off the pipe during the final minute of regulation.

The Cardinals’ Abby DeWitt also narrowly missed producing the equalizer when she hit the crossbar with a shot during the game’s final 10 minutes.

Cournoyer made a game-best 17 saves to net the win for the Scots, while Fairmont Area goalie Taylor Eicholz stopped seven of eight shots on goal.

Fairmont Area (6-4, 4-2 Big South) travels to New Ulm tonight for a 6:45 p.m. conference clash with the Eagles.

Sami Lenort collected a hat trick and one assist to help engineer Fairmont Area’s 7-0 triumph over St. Paul Highland Park during junior varsity action Saturday in St. Paul.

Rayah Quiring produced two goals and one assist for the Cardinals, while Mackenzie Householder contributed one goal and two assists to the winning performance.

Hailie Handevidt supplied one Fairmont Area goal via a penalty kick, while Tegan Roskop and Brooklyn Meyer each distributed assists.

Goalkeeper Kaiden Boerner made two saves to net the shutout for the Cardinals.

Rayah Quiring doled out a pair of assists to help pace Fairmont Area’s 3-1 win over St. Peter during C-squad action Friday night in St. Peter.

Sami Lenort, Alexis Rojo and Emma Scheppmann each chalked up goals for the Cardinals, while teammate Skye Dobie distributed an assist.
