TRUMAN — Kobe Mohwinkel scored the game-winning run in the eighth inning as the St. James Saints beat the Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman Jaguars, 3-2, to stop their win streak at 14 games, during non-league baseball action on Monday.

Mohwinkel scored on Max Svalland’s RBI single. He scored his first run on Lucas Fredin’s two-run home run in the third inning. Fredin finished with two hits in the win.

Brady Stevens added a single and double for the Saints.

Hurn pitched the eighth inning, giving up the final run on two hits. He had one strikeout and walked one batter for the loss.

Paxton Gravlin gave up two earned runs on five hits, struck out five and walked two in seven innings on the mound.

Fredin threw 6 2/3 innings and allowed two unearned runs on three hits and two walks, while striking out two. Mohwinkel got the final out of the seventh inning without giving up a hit or issuing a walk.

Stevens pitched a scoreless and hitless eighth inning and did not issue a base-on-balls to collect the victory.
