Fairmont 12U wins 3 at own tourney

FAIRMONT — The Boekett Building Supply of Fairmont 12U hockey team went 3-1 in the Fairmont 12U tournament over the weekend.

Fairmont took an 11-2 win over Redwood Falls on Friday. Emily Sokoloski and Alexis Newville both provided Fairmont with two goals and an assist. Chantel Moeller and Abi Sundeen each scored two goals, while Hannah Goerndt, Jayda Haley and Brittany Lopau all scored once. Lopau, Alexis Newville and Karissa Newville pocketed an assist apiece, and Bella Larson and Jozie Hoefker doled out two. Fairmont recorded 36 shots on goal.

Rachel O’Connor made eight saves for Fairmont.

On Saturday, Fairmont shut out Okoboji, 10-0, before defeating Windom, 6-1, later that day.

Sokoloski made five goals and Alexis Newville had three with two assists between the two games. Goerndt scored once in each game, and had an assist in the win against Windom.

Chantel Moeller scored twice and dished out three assists, while Karissa Newville notched two goals and four assists on the day.

Larson netted a goal with two assists, Corene Moeller dished out an assist and Hoefker provided two assists in the two games played for Fairmont. Hadley Artz made four stops for Fairmont against Okoboji, while O’Connor rejected 26 shots against Windom. Fairmont attempted 55 total shots on goal.

Fairmont lost, 5-2, to Waseca on Sunday. Hoefker and Karissa Newville scored a goal apiece for Fairmont, who tallied 17 shots. Alexis Newville chipped in an assist. Artz  made 20 saves in the loss.

Squirt ‘A’ captures tournament title

FAIRMONT — The  Torgerson Properties of Fairmont Squirt ‘A’ hockey team won all four of its games to win a tournament over the weekend in Mitchell, South Dakota. Fairmont beat Rushmore, 6-4, to win the title. Hank Artz and Brock Lutterman each provided Fairmont with two goals, and Artz added an assist. Luke Kester and Connor Gronewald scored a goal apiece.

During Fairmont’s first game, the team shut out Rushmore, 4-0. Artz recorded a goal scored and an assist. Kester, Lutterman and Jace Teveldal each knocked in a score.

Fairmont’s Squirt ‘A’ team then shut out Mitchell, 12-0. Ethan Geerdes recorded both shutouts. Artz finished with a hat trick and an assist. Kester and Gronewald both scored two goals with an assist. Lutterman totaled two goals and two assists, while Teveldal had two scores. Matthew Cone doled out three assists.

Fairmont beat Worthington, 8-1, to reach the championship. Lutterman recorded a hat trick for Fairmont. Gronewald and Kester each totaled two goals and one assist, while Teveldal contributed a goal scored. Artz, Cone and Beau Becker all provided an assist each.

Squirt ‘B’ pockets win at tournament

FAIRMONT — Fairmont’s Squirt B hockey team recorded one win and two losses during this past weekend’s tournament in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Fairmont beat Brandon Valley, 7-5, last Saturday. Klay Beemer led the way with five goals, while Tyler Kurt and Kegan Roloff each finished with a goal scored. As a team, Fairmont tallied 20 shots on goal, and netminder Eric Determan had nine saves.

Fairmont lost its first game on Saturday, 8-3, to Rushmore. Determan had two goals and Roloff scored one. Gage Dahsten stopped eight Rushmore shots for Fairmont.

On Sunday, Rushmore beat Fairmont again, 6-4. Beemer and Kurt split scoring duties with two goals apiece. Determan recorded 21 saves.

PeeWee ‘B’ team 1-1 over weekend

FAIRMONT — Dewar-Aust-Roskop PeeWee ‘B’ team of Fairmont recorded a win and loss during weekend hockey action.

On Saturday, Fairmont beat the Brandon IceCats, 5-3 at Scheels IcePlex in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Kaiden Musser scored two goals with Jace Prindle, Nate Rakness and Hartley Aust each scoring one.

Lucas Flohrs provided an assist. Fairmont finished with 42 shots on goal. Fairmont goalie Cole Ziemer made six saves in the victory.

The Albert Lea Tigers hosted Fairmont and won, 7-2, the next day at the Albert Lea City Arena.

Aust scored both of Fairmont’s goals with an assist each from Prindle and Rakness. The team tallied 16 shots, while Ziemer recorded 28 saves.

The Dewar-Aust-Roskop PeeWee of Fairmont ‘B’ team plays in a tournament this weekend in Mitchell, South Dakota.
