FAIRMONT - The Fairmont Martins' pitching staff held the Wilmont Cardinals scoreless during the two amateur baseball teams' Region 13C, best-of-3, third-place playoff series.
Right-hander Sawyer Doocy flirted with a no-hitter before tossing eight shutout innings of two-hit baseball on the strength of 10 strikeouts to propel the Martins to a 6-0 Game 2 decision over the Cardinals on Friday night at Herb Wolf Field in Fairmont.
Taylor Nawrocki fired a four-hit complete-game shutout to engineer Fairmont's 8-0 Game 1 triumph over Wilmont on Wednesday night at Butts Probst Field.

The Martins (24-10), the No. 3 seed from Region 13, earned their fourth consecutive trip to the Minnesota Class 'C' state tournament. Fairmont plays the Region 4 runner-up at 1:30 p.m. next Saturday at the Mini-Met in Jordan.
The Cardinals ended their season with a 16-7 record.
"Nobody's mentioned the fact that he (Doocy) has a no-hitter going," Fairmont draftee pitcher Dustin Pronk said quietly after six complete innings.
Doocy's teammates heeded the unwritten but superstitious rule of not talking about his no-hit pitching performance, and let their bats do all the talking for them.
The Martins connected for 11 hits, including seven doubles, against Cardinals left-hander Lucas Henning through seven frames.
Doocy assisted his own cause by smacking a one-out double to right during the bottom of the second inning before circling the bases on Dustin Sobolik's RBI single to center for an early 1-0 lead.
Fairmont then capitalized on the regional clash's only error during the home half of the fourth. Adam Schmidt reached second base on a throwing error before coming home on Doocy's RBI single up the middle.
Ian Bents, who delivered a pair of doubles on the game, hammered his first two-bagger to deep center to lead off the Fairmont fifth at-bat. Bents moved to third on Jay Ruen's sacrifice bunt before scoring on Scott Chirpich's RBI single down the right-field line for a 3-0 edge.
The Martins produced three more doubles during the seventh to literally double their lead to 6-0. Bents doubled but was replaced on base via Ruen's fielder's choice. Chirpich then singled before Luke Becker drilled a double to the left-center gap to plate both Ruen and Chirpich.
Levi Becker then drove home Luke Becker, who had reached third on the throw to the plate on his double, on a fielder's choice. Shaun McGuire followed with a double, but was stranded.
While the Martins gradually built a lead, the hard-throwing Doocy sent the first 10 Cardinal batters back to the dugout without even reaching base.
Doocy later issued a fourth-inning walk to Nick Ahrens and a sixth-inning base-on-balls to Stuart Rogers to maintain his no-hit bid.
Adam Diekmann, however, spoiled Doocy's no-no by punching a one-out single to center during the top of the eighth inning. Stuart Rogers followed with an infield hit before Doocy worked out of the jam by recording a strikeout and a flyout.
McGuire allowed an infield hit to Blake Rogers in working a scoreless ninth inning for Fairmont.
Chirpich, Doocy and Bents each collected two hits for the Martins.
Henning gave up six runs - five earned - on 11 hits, struck out three and did not issue a walk in seven innings to take the loss for Wilmont.
