Family reunion planned for Sunday
Lemke family reunion will be noon Sunday at Amber Lake Park, Fairmont. A potluck meal will be served. Bring a dish to pass and any eating utensils. All family members are encouraged to attend.
Great Books to meet
Great Books will meet 9:30 a.m. Monday at Corry Schermerhorn's home, 1895 Knollwood Dr., Fairmont. The story is "Clean Slate" by Lawrence Block from "The Best American Mystery Stories."
Compassionate Friends to meet Monday
Compassionate Friends of North Central Iowa will hold its monthly meeting 7:30 p.m. Monday at Algona Public Library, 210 N. Phillips St., Algona, Iowa. Enter by the south door and follow the signs to the meeting room. This is a support group for parents who have suffered the death of a child of any age and from any cause. New coupon books are available
The new Fairmont Hockey coupon books are now on sale for $25. Those interested can contact any Fairmont Hockey player. Books also can be purchased at the Fairmont Hockey booth during the Martin County Fair next week in the Martin County Arena.
Sameera Nalla graduated and received a bachelor's degree in history and cum laude honors during a commencement ceremony held June 14 at Carleton College in Northfield.
The following area students graduated and received degrees during a spring 2014 commencement ceremony held May 17 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison: Fairmont - Gwen Wasmund, master's degree in library and information studies; St. James - Sara Jo Asendorf, bachelor's degree in education-history and bachelor's degree in social studies.
