FAIRMONT - Memorial Services for Gerald "Ted" W. Isenberg, 95, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial, with full military honors by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222, will be in the East Chain Evangelical Free Church Cemetery, East Chain, Minn.
Ted passed away Friday evening, Aug. 1, 2014, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and will continue one hour prior to the time of service on Thursday. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is in charge of the arrangements.
Gerald "Ted" Windfield Isenberg was born June 14, 1919, in Grant Township, Kossuth County, Iowa, the son of Gus and Theresa (Solberg) Isenberg. He attended Grant School. Gerald served 4 1/2 years in WWII with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant. He married Sylvia and they were blessed with three sons:?Larry, Rande and Theodore "Ted." Ted was employed at Fredstrom's Appliance Store and for 19 years was also employed by the Fairmont School District. After his retirement, he was a school crossing guard for 19 years. Ted was a member of Bethel Evangelical Free Church, where he served as a past officer of the church and also helped with Sunday School. He loved music and was involved with singing with his brothers in his younger years. During his younger years, Ted was a member of the music committee of the church and organized the group of men called the "Old Timers" where he played piano for the group. Ted learned to play the piano as a young boy, teaching himself to play by ear.
Ted, as most people called him is survived by his wife, Sylvia Isenberg of Fairmont, Minn.; three sons, Larry (Cindy) Isenberg of Columbus, Ind., Rande (Alice) Isenberg of Fairmont, Minn., and Theodore "Ted" (Carroll) Isenberg of Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren, Eric of California, Benjamin of Fairmont, Minn., and Patrik of Indiana; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Theresa Isenberg; one sister; five brothers; two infant siblings; and several in-laws.
The family requests memorials be given in Ted' s name to the UHD Hospice in Fairmont and Blue Earth and the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont.
