SHERBURN - The 2014 Martin County Relay for Life event will be held 3 p.m. Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont.
Bob Mulso of Sherburn will be the honorary Relay for Life chairman. He is undergoing treatment for recurring cancer.
There will be a pork patty feed from 5-7 p.m.; the ceremony is slated to start at 7:30 p.m.; and a luminary ceremony, at which candles are lit in honor of all those who have been affected by cancer.
There also will be a silent auction, live auction and musical entertainment. Everyone is welcome to attend and help raise money for the American Cancer Society in its fight against cancer.
Immanuel Lutheran Church women will host a barbecue and pie and ice cream social from 5-7 p.m. tonight at the Dunnell Community Hall in Dunnell. They will be serve BBQs, hot dogs, homemade potato salad, pickles, chips, ice cream and beverage. A free-will donation will be taken. Everyone is welcome.
Also in Dunnell, they will have their first consignment auction beginning 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The auction will be located at the Dunnell Community building and throughout town.
Welcome's Summer Festival will be going on this weekend. On Friday, the Welcome firefighters will host a chicken feed, as well as a teen/youth dance.
On Saturday, there will be garage sales all over town, a pie and ice cream social, a softball tourney, kiddie tractor pull, a pork chop feed and a street dance.
On Sunday, there will be a pancake breakfast as well as the softball tournament.

There will be auditions for the Prairie Children's Theatre production of "Pinocchio" beginning 1 p.m. Monday at Sherburn Theatre.
Students ages 7-17 are welcome to try out for roles.
Practices will be held 1-5 p.m. July 22-24, and performances will be 7 p.m. July 25, and 10 a.m. July 26.
Tickets are now on sale for Red, White and Brew Review, the third annual wine- and beer-tasting event hosted by Sherburn Area Task Force. It will be held 6-10 p.m. Aug. 1 at Sherburn Fire Hall.
A limited number of tickets are available. They can be purchased from Bank Midwest in Sherburn, Sherburn Nursery and Floral, Sherburn Liquor Store, the Old Alley Quilt Shop, or from any of the following Task Force members: Penny Claussen, Charlotte Cordes, Amy Eich, Gary and Dorothy Janssen, Bryon Kittleson, Leslie Truesdell, Doug Rosenberg and Deanna Garbers.
The burn site in Sherburn will be open 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Only branches, brush, leaves, and grass clippings will be accepted.
