BANCROFT, Iowa - The North Union Warriors baseball lineup exploded for 38 runs behind 24 hits and 17 walks received to pocket a doubleheader from the Clay Central-Everly Mavericks on Wednesday night in Bancroft, Iowa.
The Warriors pounded out nine hits to fuel a 12-1, five-inning Corn Belt Conference victory, while combining 15 hits with 14 walks to produce a 26-0, four-inning landslide over the Mavericks.
Cody Runksmeier generated a twinbill-leading six RBIs behind a 4-for-7 performance, including three doubles, to spark North Union's offensive outpouring. Runksmeier also scored three runs.
Colin Runksmeier supplied four hits, including a pair of doubles, to the Warriors' powerful attack. Runksmeier scored four runs and had one RBI.
Riley Bauer went 3-for-6 with four runs scored and two RBIs for the green-and-black, while Alex Krantz went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Corey Vaske generated two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored for North Union, while Spencer Ricke and Ryan Larson each delivered two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Braden Ortman went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while Trent Pedersen went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Ortman and Pedersen each generated a doubleheader-best five runs scored.
Ortman allowed one run on three hits, struck out seven and issued six bases-on-balls in five innings of work to earn the complete-game victory in the 12-1 game.
Parker Oleson hurled a two-hit shutout over four frames on the mound, recording eight strikeouts and issuing one walk to earn the complete-game victory in the 26-0 rout.
North Union (8-8) travels to Gilmore City, Iowa, on Monday for another 5:30 p.m. Corn Belt Conference doubleheader against West Bend-Mallard.
