Bernadette Rosina (English) Bohlsen was born March 6, 1920, in Sartell, Minn., the daughter of John and Katherine English. Bernadette attended school in Sartell and graduated from Sartell High School. On May 1, 1941, Bernadette was united in marriage to Albert John Bohlsen in Sartell, Minn. Together, the couple made their home in St. Cloud, Minn., and Grafton, N.D., before making Fairmont their home. To this union eight children were born:?Darlene, Jerry, Joell, Joann, Janee, Julie, Joyce and Janet. Bernadette loved her family and treasured the opportunity to be a stay at home mom. She was a wonderful cook and always seemed to have a fresh batch of cookies made for those that stopped over to visit. Bernadette loved traveling and was blessed to visit many places throughout the world. She also looked forward to summer camping trips with family and friends. Her nickname was "Whistling Bernie" and those who knew her found the name fitting due to her love of music and whistling the many tunes she knew. As her family grew, Bernadette enjoyed crocheting blankets for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her motto was "many hands make light work."

Bernadette will be greatly missed by those who loved her and called her friend. Left to cherish her memory are: her children, Darlene (Merle) Andresen of Albert Lea, Minn., Jerry (Del Rose) Bohlsen of Fairmont, Minn., Joell (Charlie) Schaefer of Fairmont, Minn., Joann (Randy) Hinders of Dexter, Minn., Janee (Frank) Boever of Spencer, Iowa, Julie (Mark) Holland of Rochester, Minn., and Joyce (Will) Schauberger of Round Rock, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many other extended family and friends.

Bernadette was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katherine English; husband, Albert Bohlsen; daughter, Janet Bohlsen; three brothers, Alphonse English, Richard English, and Art English; and numerous in-laws and extended family.
