MADELIA - Raymond (Ray) Bowers, age 90, of Madelia, Minn., died Friday, April 18, 2014, at his home in Madelia, Minn. A service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church in Madelia, with Rev. Penny Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Madelia, Minn.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, in the Pilgrim Chapel at Sturm Funeral Home, and will continue 10-11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Madelia.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Madelia.

Ray Bowers was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Spencer, Neb., to Sid and Mary (Kerbel) Bowers. He spent his younger years growing up on a farm. They moved to Minnesota, where he finished school and graduated from Truman High School in 1942. On Sept. 15, 1943, he married Evelyn Bursell and they started farming near Truman and continued farming in Lewisville/Madelia until retiring. He and Evelyn retired in Madelia. They enjoyed many winters in Arizona. He enjoyed golfing, dancing, fishing and playing cards, in which he was very competitive. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by his family. Memorials to First Presbyterian Church of Madelia and Mayo Clinic Cancer Research.
Ray is survived by his wife, Enid; his children, Debbie of Minneapolis, Chuck (Peggy) Bowers of Madelia, Jim (Trish) Bowers of Lonsdale, Darlene (Ron) Splinter of North Mankato and Dale (Beverly) Bowers of Owatonna; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Donna) Bowers; sisters, Betty (Connie) Lewis, and Phyllis (Delvin) Meyer; many nieces and nephews; and Enid's family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; son, Jerry; his parents; sister and brother-in-law.
