Ralph LeRoy Hatfield was born April 25, 1944, in Ledyard, Iowa, the son of Benjamin Tab and Sophia Iva May (Schuler) Hatfield. He received his education from the Backus Public School in Backus, Minn. On Nov. 1, 1982, Ralph was united in marriage to Betty Morgan in Fairmont, Minn. Together, the couple made their home in Kansas, Florida, Ceylon, Minn., and Sherburn, Minn.

Ralph worked numerous jobs as a mechanic, farmer, orange picker, and he also drove a seismograph truck for Seis-Pro. In his spare time, Ralph enjoyed tinkering and fixing anything with an engine. He also treasured spending time fishing, camping and hunting. Ralph cherished memories made with family and friends. He had a big heart and loved the opportunity to help others in need. Ralph had an adventurous side as well and the family members were never surprised to hear of him and Betty jumping in the car to travel many miles to visit something. He will be greatly missed by those that loved him and called him friend.
