FAIRMONT - Funeral service for Evelyn L. Harder, 91, of Fairmont, formerly of Ceylon, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Burial will be in the Tenhassen Township Cemetery near Ceylon. Visitation will be 47 p.m. Tuesday, January 7 at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Evelyn passed away Saturday morning, January 4, 2014, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont.

Evelyn L. (Rosburg) Harder was born on December 17, 1922, in Lake Fremont Township, Martin County, the daughter of Frank and Hattie (Ball) Rosburg. In 1926, she moved with her folks to a farm east of Ceylon where she attended District 17 country school. In 1935, the family moved to Fairmont and Evelyn graduated from Fairmont High School in 1940. On February 9, 1941, she married Walter Harder in Fairmont. They farmed by Northrop until 1945 at which time they moved to a farm near Ceylon. In 2006 they moved off the farm to Fairmont. Walter passed away on December 8, 2010.

Evelyn was very active in the United Methodist Church in Ceylon until the church's closing.

Those who will cherish Evelyn's memory include three children, Alice Evans and her husband, Jul, of Norwood, Minn., Wayne Harder and his wife, Karen, of Ceylon, Minn., Judy Wachal and her husband, Dave, of Mankato, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Patty Crissinger and her husband, Mark, of Granada, Minn.; 13 grandchildren, Mark Harder (Jackie), Michael Harder (Kathy), Steven Wachal (Dawn), Joshua Evans (Alise), Jeremy Evans (Triet), Troy Harder (Racquel), Melanie Dunlop (Chad), Scott Wachal (Allison), Heather Buckentine (Randy), Matthew Harder (Melanie), Todd Harder (Dana), Chad Harder (Amy), Clint Wachal (Lindsay); 41 great-grandchildren; as well as other extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Frank and Hattie Rosburg, and husband, Walter Harder, Evelyn was also preceded in death by two sons, Elmer and Gary Harder; granddaughter, Melissa; infant sister, Alice; and two brothers, Donald and Elmer.
