SHERBURN - A Celebration of Life Service for Joan M. Steffen, 84, of Sherburn, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sherburn, Minn., with Rev. Steven D. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont, Minn.

Joan was called to her eternal rest on Saturday morning, Dec. 7, 2013, at Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn, Minn. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Messages of Sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.kramerfuneralhome.com

Joan Marie Meyer was born on Dec. 18, 1929, to George and Marie (Courtright) Meyer in Fairmont, Minn. She received her education in Fairmont schools. On March 6, 1948, Joan was united in marriage to Ronald Eugene Steffen at United Methodist Church in Fairmont, Minn. After their marriage they farmed until moving to Fairmont, where Joan was employed at Stokley Van Camp Canning Company and Woolworths, both in Fairmont. They later moved to a farm in Jay Township and farmed until retiring in 2002 remaining on the farm. Gene died on Oct. 16, 2004. She remained on the farm until 2005 when she moved to Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn. Joan was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn and the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. in Fairmont. She greatly enjoyed crocheting, sewing, doing needle work, reading, vacationing and RV camping and being with her family.

She will be greatly missed by her children, sons, Larry Steffen of Sherburn, Minn., Rick (Judy) Steffen of South Dakota, Daryl (Marilyn) Steffen of rural Kasota, Minn.; two daughters, Jeanne (John) Frappier of Sherburn, Minn., and Sherry (Kyle) Grove of Apple Valley, Minn.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Leora Cottew of Arizona; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ronald Eugene Steffen; two brothers; son-in-law, Darwin "Ralph" Faber and other relatives.
