FAIRMONT - A private family service will be at later date for Roger A. Anderson, 83, of Fairmont, Minn. Roger passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 19, 2013, at his home in Fairmont.
Roger Alvin Anderson was born Nov. 14, 1930, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Leonard and Pearl (Larson) Anderson. Roger graduated from East Chain High School in 1948 and then went on to Dunwoody Institute and Technology. Roger entered the U.S. Air Force in December 1950 and honorably served his county until his honorable discharge in December 1954. He returned to Martin County and, on June 14, 1958, he was united in marriage to Joyce Kesselring at the East Chain Lutheran Church. They made their home in Fairmont and raised two boys, Doyle and Barry. Roger worked for 25 years at Christensen Lumber and Millwork and then 25 years for Hertzke Construction and Millwork. He retired in 2005.
Roger was a member of the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He took great pride in being with his family and watching his grandchildren grow up.
Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Joyce Anderson of Fairmont; two sons, Doyle Anderson and his wife, Eileen, of Monticello, Minn., Barry Anderson and his wife, Easter, of Pine Island; five grandchildren, Amanda Eberle (Nick), Miles and Paige Anderson, Alexa and Kayla Anderson; two sisters, Clarice Roalson of Duluth, Minn., Marian Locke of Eden Prairie, Minn.; brother, Mel Anderson and his wife, Mardela, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Pearl Anderson; parents-in-law, William and Esther Kesselring; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cecil and Florence Kesselring and brother-in-law, Daryl Roalson.
