Laura Louise (Radig) was born Oct. 23, 1926, on the family farm near Lotts Creek, Kossuth County, Iowa, to Alex and Emma (Krause) Radig. She was the youngest of four boys and four girls. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lotts Creek, Iowa. She attended country school, Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School, and graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1945. She attended college at Iowa State University and AIB in Des Moines, Iowa. She met the love of her life, Dr. LeRoy Henriksen, and they were married Nov. 25, 1949. They lived in Chicago, Ill., before Dr. LeRoy began an optometric practice in Armstrong in 1951. They became the parents of five children and were actively involved with their church and community. Laura taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and belonged to the women's groups at Nazareth Lutheran Church. She was a Cub Scout den mother and a 55-year member of General Federated Women's Club. Her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed spending time and working on the family farm, playing cards, and was an outstanding cook for her family and friends. The greatest gifts to her family and friends were her unconditional love and unwavering faith in her Christian faith. Dr. LeRoy died May 18, 2001. She continued to live in her own home thanks to all of her loving caregivers until her death.

Left to cherish Laura's memory are her children, Glenn Henriksen of Armstrong, Iowa, Dr. Paul (Kristy) Henriksen of Pipestone, Minn., Philip (Lisa) Henriksen of Armstrong, Iowa, Mary (Lennon) Brandt of Swea City, Iowa, and Richard Henriksen of Minneapolis, Minn.; grandchildren, Jess (Alizabeth) Henriksen, Erik (Katelin) Henriksen, Berit Henriksen, Alex Brandt, Leslie Brandt, Adam Brandt, Natalie Henriksen, and Rachel Henriksen; great-grandson, Jorgen Henriksen; brothers, Gerald (Ann) Radig of Des Moines, Iowa, and Eugene Radig of Sanborn, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Langerman of Colfax, N.C.

Preceding Laura in death were her husband, Dr. LeRoy; parents; grandson, Karl Henriksen; siblings and spouses, Donald (Lillian) Radig, Wilfred (Elisabeth) Radig, Helen (Harold) Gross, Verona (Glenn) Berntson, Evelyn (Jiles) Phillips; brothers-in-law, Clifford (Helen) Henriksen, Harvey (Lorene) Henriksen, Gerald (Lois) Henriksen, and Marcus Langerman.
