Website woes are just part of this nightmare

November 1, 2013

Americans attempting to sign up for Obamacare on the federal government website have been running into a wall. The poorly functioning site is preventing people from using it. There is also news out this week that the site may be far from secure. Which means the prying eyes of hackers could access information on millions of Americans.

The news gets worse. Because of the transition to Obamacare, health insurers are canceling millions of customer polices, hitting small businesses and individuals who buy their own insurance. The good news, supposedly, is that this is a temporary concern, because new policies will be issued. However, the new plans must provide mandated services and have no lifetime limits on coverage. That means costs will rise.

These, of course, are just the current problems with Obamacare. The program itself is a reality-denying abomination. Its backers say it will cover the uninsured, expand services at no charge, cover people with pre-existing conditions, force insurers to keep adult children on their parents' plans, remove lifetime limits on coverage and offer free preventative care. Obama and others have said all of this would occur and premiums would decline $2,500. And no one would lose their current coverage.

Those who understand arithmetic knew Obamacare could not and cannot work. Add in freedom-killing mandates on American businesses and individuals and you have an immoral as well as an inoperable law. We certainly blame those lawmakers (Democrats) who passed it, as well as the president. The voters who put Obamacare supporters in office can learn from the mistake and choose candidates in 2014 who will bring this nightmare to an end.
