FAIRMONT - Mass of Christian burial for Leone Luscomb, 78, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at the St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. There will be a private family burial held at a later time. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the time of service Monday at the church. Leone passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Leone Mary (Duffey) Luscomb was born on Sept. 4, 1935, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Edward and Mayme (Murphy) Duffey. She attended school in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1953. Following her graduation, Leone attended college at St. Therese in Winona for one year.
In 1966, Leone was united in marriage to Jerald Luscomb in Fairmont, Minn. Together the couple made their home in Falcon Heights, Minn., and Mason City, Iowa, before moving to Eagle Lake, Minn., for four years and finally returning to Fairmont in 1974. Leone worked for the Fairmont Telephone Company, First National Bank, Keihl's Bakery, and Hardee's as well as volunteering at the hospital. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and St. Ambrose Circle.
In her spare time, Leone loved dancing and playing cards. She cherished time spent watching and playing with her grandchildren and was their number one fan at whatever they participated in. Leone will be greatly missed by those that loved her and called her friend.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lisa Kuhl and her husband, Scott of Fairmont, Minn., and Chad Luscomb and his wife, Angie of Mankato, Minn.; grandchildren, Colby Kuhl, Carson Kuhl, and Ashlyn Luscomb; sisters, Margy Duffey of North Carolina and Lenore O'Neill and her husband Jean of Spirit Lake, Iowa; brothers, Robert Duffey of Fairmont, Minn., and Jim Duffey and his wife, Eileen of Florida; ex-husband and care-giver, Jerald Luscomb; brother-in-law, Ray Hillman; friend, Donna Duffey of Fairmont, Minn; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Leone was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mayme Duffey; daughter, Kristine (Luscomb) Rezac; sisters, Marie (Duffey) Small, Eileen (Duffey) Hillman, and Helen Jean Duffey and brother-in-law, William "Bill" Small.
