CEYLON - Graveside services for Elinor L. Ditz, 93, of Ceylon, Minn., will be held at a later date in the Lake Belt Cemetery near Ceylon. Elinor's final wishes were to be cremated and that family and friends enjoy a graveside memorial gathering to celebrate her life.

When arrangements are finalized, the family will announce the date and time for the celebration.

Elinor passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 12, 2013, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with those arrangements.

Elinor Lois (Koenecke) Ditz was born May 8, 1920, in Ceylon, Minn., the daughter of Fred and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Olson) Koenecke. She attended school in Ceylon and graduated from Ceylon High School. Following her graduation, Elinor moved to Minneapolis where she attended Beauty School. Upon completion of Beauty School, she opened Charm House Beauty Shop and owned and operated the shop for a number of years. On July 18, 1942, Elinor was united in marriage to William S. Ditz in the Twin Cities. The couple made their home in the Twin Cities and also Leadville, Col., before returning to Minnesota and making their home in Ceylon. To this union two children were born, Barbara and Willie. In her spare time, Elinor enjoyed tending to her garden and reading. She was an avid golfer and won multiple club championships at the Fox Lake Golf Course. Elinor also enjoyed traveling and looked forward to visiting friends in California as well as winters spent in Hawaii and Arizona. She will be greatly missed by those that loved her and called her friend. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Barbara Personius and her husband, Will of Golden Valley, Minn., and Willie Ditz of Ceylon, Minn.; two grandchildren, Keith Personius and Alan Personius and special friend, Cindy Custer; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Elinor was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Wilhelmina "Minnie" Koenecke; husband, William S. Ditz; three brothers, Howard Koenecke, Donald Koenecke, and Fred "Fritz" Koenecke; and one half brother-in-law, Harry Serle and his wife, Ruth.
