FAIRMONT - Funeral services for Diane Draper, 52, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont, with interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.

Diane passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 6, 2013, at her home in Fairmont. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today, Aug. 8, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)-MN Chapter or to the donor's choice.

Diane Lee (Paulson) Draper was born July 26, 1961, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Richard and Norma (Bellows) Paulson. Diane graduated from Fairmont High School in 1979. She furthered her education in St. Cloud and Winona before graduating from Mankato State University in 1984, with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She also furthered her education working toward a Master's Degree in special education. On May 26, 1984, Diane was united in marriage to Jim Draper at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Fairmont. The couple resided in Fairmont and this union was blessed with two children, James and Dana. Diane and Jim shared 29 years together. After high school, Diane worked in advertising for Channel 28 in Fairmont. She later taught school in Fairmont and Truman before becoming a stay-at-home-mom to spend time with her children. In 2006, Diane and Jim opened the Lake Sisseton Saloon in Fairmont. Together, they owned and operated the saloon until selling the business in December 2012 to spend more time with their family. Diane had just completed her Realtor classes and became a licensed Realtor on July 1, 2013. Diane enjoyed boating and spending time on the lake. She loved to entertain and cook for the many relatives and friends that came to visit. She loved music and also spent some of her time teaching gymnastics and dancing as a "flapper" at the Fairmont Opera House. Diane and Jim shared a lot of time traveling together. The most important thing in Diane's life was her family. She loved spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren. She was always willing to give of herself to help others including working with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)-MN Chapter. Diane was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jim Draper of Fairmont, Minn.; children, James Draper and his wife, Katie, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Dana Draper and her boyfriend, Jeffrey Scholl, of Trimont, Minn.; grandchildren, Lilly Ranae, Dayton James and Bennett Charles; mother, Norma Skordahl and her husband, Vernon, of Bloomington, Minn.; siblings, Gregg Paulson and his wife, Katy, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mari Myren and her husband, Steven, of Fischers, Ind.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cheryl Rippke and her husband, Jon, of Mankato, and Charles Draper and his wife, Mary, of Mankato; nieces and nephews, Anthony Myren, Chelsea Myren, Joseph Myren, and Garrett Myren, Jack Paulson, and Anna Paulson, Laura Legatt and her husband, John, Sarah Rippke, Elizabeth Draper, and Alex Draper; great nephew and great niece, John Charles and Aubrey Dolores; and an uncle, Ran Bellows and his wife, Jeff of Golden, Colo.

Diane was preceded in death by her father, Richard Paulson; brother, Richard Paulson Jr.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Dolores Draper; and grandparents, Norma and Donald Bellows, and Roy and Martha Paulson.
