TRIMONT - A Celebration of Life Service for Thelma Russenberger, 85, of Trimont, Minn., formerly of Reeder, N.D., will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Trimont with Rev. John Meyer, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lutheran Cemetery, rural Trimont, Minn.

Thelma was called to her eternal rest on Sunday morning, July 14, 2013, at Trimont Health Care Center in Trimont, Minn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Thelma Carroll Hilden was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Reeder, N.D., to Eddie and Martha (Hoeft) Hilden. She was received into the kingdom of God through Holy Baptism on Jan. 29, 1928, and later reaffirmed her faith at her confirmation on June 7, 1942, both at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Reeder, N.D. She attended and graduated from Reeder High School in 1945. Thelma then continued her education at Concordia College in Moorhead, graduating in 1949 with a degree in education. She accepted a teaching job at Triumph-Monterey School. On June 28, 1953, she was united in marriage to Edwin J. Russenberger at Trinity Lutheran Church in Triumph, Minn. They were the first couple to be married in the new church. After their marriage, they farmed in Galena Township and raised three sons. Thelma enjoyed subsititute teaching for many years. They lived and farmed in Galena Township. Edwin died on March 11, 1996. She continued living on the farm until moving into Trimont. On April 23, 2009, she became a resident of Trimont Health Care Center. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid where she held various offices, taught Sunday School, sang in the Church Choir and belonged to it's Prayer Chain. Thelma was a Cedar 4-H Leader and enjoyed gardening, hardanger and stitching. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and attending their activities. Thelma is survived by her three sons, Bruce and JoAnn Russenberger of Trimont, Minn., Duane and Wendi Russenberger of rural Trimont, Minn., and Dale and Janelle Russenberger of Delano, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Lindsey (Simon) Mathisen, KaLeigh and Tori Russenberger, Kelci, Alisa and Derrek Russenberger, Kristi (Jason) Milbrandt, Sadie and Carli Russenberger; sister, Hazel and Morris Wanek of Reeder, N.D.; sisters-in-law, Lois Hartke of Trimont, Minn., and Lorraine Rippel of Winona, Minn.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin Russenberger; and other relatives.
