FAIRMONT- Funeral service for Darryl A. Hartmann, 49, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop, Minn., with interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of the service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Darryl passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013, at his home in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Darryl Alan Hartmann was born on June 7, 1964, in Fairmont, Minn. He was the son of Alvin and Janice (Schultz) Hartmann. He attended school at St. James Lutheran School in Northrop. He later attended Fairmont High School and graduated in 1983.

After high school, Darryl worked for Red Owl grocery store in Fairmont before working for John Morrell in Sioux Falls, S.D. Most recently Darryl worked and J&B Pallets in Fairmont until becoming disabled.

Darryl met Steph Simon in Fairmont. The couple resided in Fairmont and had one son, Nathan. Darryl and Steph spent over 18 years together.

During his free time, Darryl enjoyed being an outdoorsman. He was always hunting and fishing, including yearly bear hunting trips. Darryl also loved gardening and sold many fruits and vegetables. He would carve duck and geese decoys as well as watch the races every Friday and Saturday. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Nathan Hartmann and his special friend, Callie Schultze, of Mankato, Minn.; mother, Janice Hartmann of Northrop, Minn.; brothers, Mike Hartmann and his wife, Vicki, of Fairmont, Minn., Terry Hartmann and his wife, Shawn, of Janesville, Minn., and Brandon Hartmann and his wife, Jessica, of Fairmont, Minn.; sisters, Connie and Troy Kakeldey, of Fairmont, Minn., and Rhonda Hartmann and her special friend, Nick King, of Fairmont, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and hunting buddies.

Along with his father, Alvin Hartmann, Darryl was also preceded in death by his niece, Natalie King.
