SLEEPY EYE - Services for Larry J. Moldan, 55, of Sleepy Eye, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, Minn., with Pastor Keith Ainsley officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye, Minn.

Larry died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and will continue from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com

Larry was born Dec. 25, 1957, in Sleepy Eye, Minn., the son of Engelbert and Evelyn (Mickelson) Moldan. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1977. Larry attended Mankato Area Vo-Tech for a couple of years receiving education in refrigeration, heating and appliance repair. After completing his schooling, he worked at Dan's Appliance and the Holiday Inn in Fairmont, later returning to Sleepy Eye and working at Anderson Processing. Larry married Ruth Burrows on June 23, 1990, in Fairmont. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye, where Larry worked for Mathiowetz Construction until 2011. Larry enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, collecting agates and coins, repairing appliances and traveling to the Boundary Waters.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Moldan; son, Joseph Lee III of Sleepy Eye; daughter, Anedra Lee of Minnetonka; grandson, Joseph IV; brothers, Norbert (Judy) of South Dakota, David (Suzanne) of Sleepy Eye, Leo (Theresa) of Sleepy Eye, Leon (Joanie) of Little Canada, Richard (Shauna) of Sleepy Eye, and Glen (Lisa) of New Ulm; sisters, LeAnn Schewe of Sleepy Eye, JoAnn (Leland "Pete") Oleson of Sleepy Eye, Donna (Mark) Konz of Sleepy Eye, Mary Rost of Sleepy Eye, and Tammy (Dan) Windschitl of New Ulm; and sister-in-law, Susan Moldan. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his father, Engelbert Moldan; mother and step-father, Evelyn (Moldan) and Clarence Mathiowetz; brothers, Thomas (Juline) and Raymond; mother-in-law, Eileen Burrows; and brother-in-law, Mike Schewe.
