SHERBURN - A fundraiser that was successful for Sherburn Area Task Force last summer has doubled up for its second year.
The "Red, White and Brew" wine- and beer-tasting will be held July 12, with numerous samples of beers and wines, including from homemade brewers and wine vendors.
"About 95 percent of the products there can be bought at the Sherburn liquor store," said Charlotte Cordes, one of the task force members organizing the event. "They've been helping us with their distributors."
While last year's event was limited to 200 people and held at the Sherburn Legion, this year's event has 400 tickets available. It will be held near the Sherburn Fire Hall.
"The only venues we had that are big enough for an event like this are the Legion or the Fire Hall," Cordes said. "Last year, we sold out and it was crowded. So we went through the ropes needed to use the fire hall, and they've been excellent at accommodating us."
Being an outdoor event, the atmosphere at "Red, White and Brew," will be different from last year.
"Last year was more elegant," Cordes said. "We had men there dressed in their nice clothes and ties. Women there were wearing nice dresses. This year, being outdoors, it will be more casual."
Along with beer and wine samples, a variety of food will be available from vendors, and there will be items available from local crafters, while entertainers will be performing.
Tickets are on sale now for $20, and are available at the Old Alley Quilt Shop, Sherburn Nursery and Floral, Bank Midwest of Sherburn, and Red Carpet Liquor Store. Tickets also can be purchased from any Task Force member. For more information, call Cordes at (507) 764-2975.
