Slawson and Lyons double-winners

FAIRMONT - James Slawson and Colby Lyons bookended racing action with a pair of double wins on Friday at the Fairmont Raceway.

Slawson captured the Heat 2 first-place finish in the Modifieds class to open up the racing and then completed the double-victory with a feature win.

Lyons, likewise won his heat in the Compacts races before racing to a first-place finish in the feature to stake the No. 2 position in the points standings.

Tad Reutzel earned the first-place finish in Heat 1 of the Modifieds, but finished second in the feature to Slawson, while points leader Jeffrey Larson won Heat 3 before finishing fourth in the final.

The Stock Car races had a different winner in each of their three races on Friday.

Jerry Coopman claimed the top spot in the first heat, while Derek Green won the second.

Jim Larson came away with the feature victory in the Stock Cars, however, with Green finishing fifth and Coopman coming in eighth in the final.

Greg Sidles raced by the points leader, Matthew Looft, in the final of the Sports Modifieds to claim the first-place finish.

Looft, who won Heat 2 ahead of Sidles, then finished second in the feature.

Fairmont's Carter Shumski took home the third heat win in the Sports Mods, while Sherburn's Nathan Chukuske won the first heat.

After finishing third in the Hobby Stocks' second heat to Jeremy Wegner, Aaron Hansen motored to a feature victory later in the night.

Justin Luinenburg won the opening heat of the Hobby Stocks, while Truman's Doug Schwanz won the third heat of the night.

The racers will be back in action on Friday night at Fairmont Raceway.
