NU’s 4x8 nets 18th at 2A state

DES MOINES, Iowa - North Union's 4x800-meter boys relay team captured 18th place during Day 1 of the Iowa Class 2A state track and field meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines on Thursday.

Brian Becker, Jake Adams, Aric Runge and Matt Adams traded handoffs to cover the distance in 8:29.01 for the Warriors.

North Union freshman sprinter MaKayla Hardman posted a time of 13.27 to finish sixth during Heat 1 of the 100-meter dash preliminaries on Thursday.

Hardman just missed by a hundredth of a second of qualifying for Saturday's finals.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, their 4x100-meter shuttle hurdle relay team of Jordan Guerdet, Emily Hagebock, Sara Rolling and Allie Ingalls were disqualified for an infraction during the event's preliminaries on Thursday.

The Class 2A state competition continues today through Saturday.
