Fairmont drives by B.E. Area

ELMORE - Megan Rosol and Lizzie Larson packed a potent 1-2 scoring punch to engineer the Fairmont Cardinals' 373-424 victory over the Blue Earth Area Bucs during South Central Conference dual-meet golf action Tuesday in Elmore.

Rosol earned meet medalist honors by firing back-to-back nine-holes rounds of 44 at Minn-Iowa Golf Course to generate a team-leading score of 88. Rosol connected on a team-best seven pars to fuel her winning ways.

Larson finished only one shot behind her teammate, generating a 44-45-89 to merit runner-up medalist accolades. Larson sank six pars and delivered a birdie on the par-5 third hole to highlight her 18-hole round.

Elizabeth Kim connected on six pars to pace her 46-48-94 counting mark for Fairmont, while Emily Kim chipped in a 53-49-102 to complete the Cardinals' counting scores.

Alyssa Westcott chipped in for par on the par-4 ninth hole to highlight her round of 51-59-110. Westcott also parred No. 4.

Natali Fellows carded a 46-47-93 to pace the Bucs' counting marks, while teammates Autumn Drake and Aeli Olson also broke the century mark. Drake fired a 49-47-96, while Aeli Olson tallied a 49-50-99.

Signe Olson chipped in a 71-65-136 to complete Blue Earth Area's counting totals, while Ashley Petersen added a 75-63-138.

Fairmont travels to North Links Golf Course in Mankato on Friday for a 3:15 p.m. nonconference dual meet against Mankato West.

Blue Earth Area plays host to Mankato West at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Riverside Town & Country Club.

Boys Golf

Fairmont 326, Blue Earth Area 365 - Senior standout Josh Baldus continued his low-scoring ways on Tuesday to guide the Fairmont Cardinals to a 326-365 South Central Conference dual-meet golf victory over the Blue Earth Area Bucs at Riverside Town & Country Club.

Baldus fired back-to-back 37s to finish with a 2-over par 74 to capture individual medalist honors on the day.

Baldus led the entire field by carding 13 pars to complement making birdie on the par-4 second hole and another 3 on the par-4 No. 14 hole to highlight his winning ways.

The Cardinals' Joe Nordquist produced eight pars and sank a birdie on the par-5 No. 18 hole to pace a 42-39-81 to claim second-place honors behind Baldus.

Sam Havnen and Carter Welchlin turned in a 45-40-85 and a 43-43-86, respectively, to complete Fairmont's counting marks. Havnen connected for seven pars on his 18-hole round, while Welchlin made six pars to go with a birdie on the par-5 No. 3 hole.

Cole Huinker recorded six pars to pace a 41-47-88 for the Cardinals, while Derrick Hohensee made two pars en route to a 48-44-92.

Zach Curtis generated a team-best six pars and sank a birdie on the par-3 No. 7 hole to highlight back-to-back 42s for an 84 to top Blue Earth Area's effort.

Connor Thielfoldt connected for four pars to pace a 45-44-89, Trevor Zierke also made four pars to fuel a 48-47-95, while Josh Anderson delivered three pars and a birdie on the par-3 No. 4 hole en route to a 49-48-97 to complete the Bucs' counting marks.

Logan Jacobs sank three pars to pace a 52-46-98, while Lane Anderson added one par to fuel a 59-51-110 for Blue Earth Area.

Fairmont competes in the Jordan Invitational at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.

Blue Earth Area travels to Waseca for a South Central Conference dual meet on Thursday, May 16.
