In her teen years, she worked as a nanny or housekeeper for several families in the Imogene area. While working for the William Adams family she met her husband to be, Robert. Robert Adams and Marie were married on Sept. 5, 1937, in Fairmont, Minn. After their marriage, they farmed in Pleasant Prairie township until 1950, when they moved their family to Sherburn. Marie was employed by the Sherburn school for several years as a cook. She worked at the Trimont Health Care Center for 30 years, from 1968 to 1998. After retirement for several years, she did volunteer for Trimont Health Care Center and other aging neighbors in the Sherburn area. Marie moved to Temperance Assisted Living in the fall of 2006 and into Lakeview Health Care Center in 2011. She is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Sherburn, its Senior Lutherans and was active in ladies aid there. Marie enjoyed sewing and quilting and made personal quilts for each of her 18 grandchildren. Many of her great-grandchildren received one of her hairpin lace baby afghans. She enjoyed watching the game shows on television and, of course, the Minnesota Twins.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Alice Russenberger of Royal, Iowa, Lois Wendt and husband, Elmer, of Fairmont, Minn., and Glenda Milner and husband, John, of Sauk Rapids, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Nancy Adams of Cedar, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Milda Artner of Fairmont, Minn., and Hilda Tietje of St. Gabriel, La.; and one brother, Harry Wiedow and wife, Donna, of Belvidere, Ill. Also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends and co-workers.

Along with her parents Robert and Frieda Wiedow, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Adams; daughter, Geneva Schmidtke and her husband, Charles; son, LeRoy Adams; grandson, Keith Russenberger; three sisters, Lotty and Laura Laue and Olga Janssen; and two brothers, Alvin Wiedow and Carl Wiedow and other relatives and friends.
