Sherburn hires administrator

SHERBURN - Sherburn has hired a new city administrator.

According to interim administrator Wendell Sande, the City Council has unanimously selected Samuel Hansen after interviewing five finalists from a list of 22 applicants.

"We felt that he had most of the qualities that we were looking for," said Mayor Dorothy Behne.

Hansen lives in Red Wing but has lived in Martin County in the past.

"He worked in Fairmont and lived with a brother who lives in Trimont," Behne said. "He was also familiar with our community. He was familiar with the community theater project and the closing of our grocery store. So he's kept tabs on us."

Hansen is a 2012 graduate of Minnesota State University-Mankato, with a master's degree in public administration.

His starting salary will be $48,000 per year. His start date is March 4.

Hansen replaces Jamie Letzring, who left to take a position as city administrator in Oelwein, Iowa, last month.
