LAKE MILLS, Iowa - Funeral services for Alice Gena Bidne, 101, of Lake Mills, formerly of Emmons, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Emmons Lutheran Church in Emmons, Minn., with Rev. Dr. Cathi Braasch STS officiating. Burial will take place in Lime Creek (Stateline) Cemetery in rural Emmons, Minn.

Bidne died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday evening, Jan. 13, 2013, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St., in Lake Mills, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Alice Gena (Thompson) Bidne was born May 22, 1911, to Ole and Sena (Kilvang) Thompson in Becker County, Minn. They moved to Twin Lakes, Minn. in 1919. She attended school District 43 through eighth grade. After her schooling, she worked as a hired girl in many area homes.

She was united in marriage to Alfred Bidne on Sept. 10, 1932, at the Lutheran parsonage in Albert Lea, Minn. Together, they farmed first by Scarville, then buying land west of Emmons in 1936. They farmed together there until retiring in 1972 to a new home in Emmons. After celebrating their 50th anniversary, Alfred died in 1983. In 1999, Alice was one of the first to move into the new Mills Harbour Assisted Living facility in Lake Mills, Iowa. She loved it at "the Mill" spending time with friends drinking coffee and playing cards.

Alice was a very kind and fair lady who loved spending time with her family. She celebrated her Norwegian heritage by baking lefse and flatbread for family events.

Left to cherish her love and memory are two sons, Larry (Donna) Bidne of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Dean (Debbie) Bidne of Ankeny, Iowa; two daughters, Ruth (Bob) Bullock of Owatonna, Minn., and Mary (David) Segar of Fairmont, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Rosetta Stern of Sun City, Ariz.; sister, Maxine Gavle of Albert Lea, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Cora Honsey of Albert Lea, Minn. and Edith Thompson of Twin Lakes, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; son, Marlin; brothers, Clifford and Duane; sister, Norma Vermedahl; and her parents, Sena and Ole Thompson.
