Mustangs stampede Knights

EAST CHAIN - Dylan Petrowiak produced game-leading totals of 18 points and six assists to stampede the Granada-Huntley-East Chain Mustangs to a 70-20 Valley Conference basketball victory over the Alden-Conger Knights on Tuesday night at East Chain School.

Ryan Shumski neared double-double territory by collecting 15 points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs, while teammate Logan Pytleski did likewise in generating 10 points and eight boards.

Trent Stensland and Konnor Kristenson pulled down eight and seven rebounds, respectively, for GHEC.

The Mustangs made 27 of 54 shots from 2-point range for 50 percent, 2 of 5 attempts from behind the 3-point arc and 10 of 18 at the free throw line.

Granada-Huntley-East Chain (2-6, 2-2 Valley) plays host to Nicollet on Friday night at East Chain School.

Blue Earth Area 55, Medford 52 - Brandyn Olsen notched a double-double performance of 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bucs to a 55-52 nonconference victory over the Tigers on Tuesday night in Blue Earth.

Luke Monson neared double-double standards, scoring 18 points and pulling down nine rebounds for the Bucs, while Colin Squiers scored 13 points off the bench.

Medford also had a balanced scoring attack, with three players scoring in the double digits.

Isias Rameriz tallied 13 points to lead the Tigers, while Alex Spinler scored 12 and grabbed seven boards.

Connor Chapple netted 11 points to contribute to Medford's 22 of 60 shooting performance.

Blue Earth Area shot 20-for-49 from the floor, and went 10 of 21 from the charity stripe.

Blue Earth Area (4-3, 1-1 South Central) travels to New Ulm for a 1:30 p.m. league game on Saturday.

Girls Basketball

Blue Earth Area 52, Jackson County Central 48 - Power forward Krista Hassing connected on 13 of 16 free throws to help pace her double-double performance in guiding the Bucs to a 52-48 nonconference basketball victory over the Huskies on Tuesday night in Jackson.

Hassing finished with game-bests of 19 points and 11 rebounds to complement four assists and four steals.

Jenna Stevermer contributed nine points to the Bucs' winning ways, while Janessa Jahnke supplied eight points and seven boards.

Taylor Grandgenett chipped in six points for Blue Earth Area, while teammates Whitney Pirsig and Kaitlyn Olsen added four points each.

Julia Schumann netted 15 points to top JCC, while Kaylee Burmeister scored 14.

Blue Earth Area (7-3, 2-1 South Central) plays host to New Ulm on Thursday night, while Jackson County Central (7-8) plays host to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Thursday night.
