To the Editor:
With reports of large numbers of 6- to 10-inch walleyes being caught in Fairmont lakes, area fishermen are encouraged to catch and release.
To save these released fish, it is suggested to use a small jig rather than a plain hook that is more easily swallowed. Like Manitoba law, pinching the barbs down allows easier hook removal and reduces release mortality.
