To the Editor:
Martin County Humane Society wishes to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported the Carl Nettifee Memorial Animal Shelter throughout 2012. Your donations of cash to help the shelter operate, food to feed the animals, and needed supplies are greatly appreciated.
To all the volunteers who have assisted with our many fund-raisers and helped out at the shelter during open hours, we can't thank you enough.
To all the businesses and individuals who contributed to our building addition fund, thank you so very much for making it a reality. Thank you to Dr. Katzer and his staff at Chain of Lakes Pet Hospital for taking such good care of our furry friends, and to Dr. Kristy Stone for her monthly spay and neuter provided to us.
We want to thank the Sentinel and its staff for all the news coverage through the year.
And a special thank you to all who have adopted their best four-legged friend from us this past year.
The Humane Society has contracted with Minnesota SNAP to bring its mobile surgical unit to Fairmont on Jan. 13 to provide low-cost spay and neuters. Surgeries are performed by qualified and experienced staff in a specially outfitted RV. Dr. Katzer is allowing us to use his facility in Fairmont for registration and pet holding that day. Information on this income-based program and registration is available at the website: www.mnsnap.org.
We have received a grant to help with the costs of spaying and neutering for qualifying families. This is a great opportunity to prevent unwanted litters at little or no cost to you. Pre-registration is required and can be accessed by clicking on "Pet Owners" on the SNAP website. If this venture proves successful, we may pursue additional dates in the future.
On behalf of our board of directors, officers and members of Martin County Humane Society, we want to thank everyone for your continued support of our shelter and we wish you the best for the new year.
