FAIRMONT - Funeral Service for Alfred "Al" A. Larson, 98, of Fairmont, Minn., will be noon Sunday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, with inurnment at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 11 a.m to noon Sunday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.

Alfred passed away on Friday morning, Dec. 28, 2012, at Lutz Wing of Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont.

Alfred "Al" Arthur Larson was born June 18, 1914, in Blue Earth, Minn. He was the son of John and Elsie (Rosenau) Larson. He attended school in Blue Earth and St. Paul's Lutheran School in Fairmont, Minn.

On June 12, 1938, Al was united in marriage to Leone Buss at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. This union was blessed with three daughters, Marcia, Sherri and Tinker. The couple farmed near Winnebago until moving to East Chain in 1957. Al and Leona retired in 1980 and moved to Fairmont in 1983. They shared 66 years together before Leona passed away on Nov. 9, 2004.

Al was a longtime active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont, where he attended Bible study. He belonged to the Men's Club at the church, as well as serving as an usher. During his free time, Al enjoyed golfing, traveling, spending quality time with his family and sharing his faith. He loved to be "on the go."

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Marcia Mongan of Mount Morris, Ill., Sherri Buhmann and her husband, Elvin, of Champlain, Minn., and Tinker Pytleski and her husband, Daryl, of East Chain; grandchildren, Pamela Van Auken and her husband, Calvin, Jay Holley and his wife, Jennifer, Jon Holley and his wife, Tina, Dan Buhmann and his wife, Lauren, Denise Wenz and her husband, Mark, T.J. Pytleski and his wife, Gina, Tonya Stier and her husband, Nate, and Myrriah Rutz and her husband, Scott; 17 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, John and Elsie Larson, Al was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; aunts, uncles, many beloved dogs throughout the years; and many other relatives.
