SHERBURN - The Fairmont/Martin County West Red Bulls buried the River Valley Wildcats 54-21 in a nonconference wrestling dual meet on Friday night in Sherburn.
With the match tied 12-12 Elijah Gronewold managed to pin the Wildcats' Colton Denton in the 138 match to take the six point lead. Gronewold scored the opening points, taking Denton down for a quick two.
The sophomore maintained control, scoring two back points to extend his lead to 4-0 after the first period.

After another takedown to open the second gave Gronewold the 6-0 lead, he secured the pin just 15 seconds into the period.
"I thought that Elijah had a good match. He was due for a good win, and I told him when he came off the mat that's the kind of wrestling we need out of him," said Fairmont/Martin County West head coach Jake Tietje.
Gronewold's win and four straight Wildcat forfeits helped seal the victory for the Red Bulls.
The Wildcats snuck away with two victories in the final four matches, including a quadruple overtime win at 285 for Lance Briard over Class AA No. 3-ranked Colton Hines.
Hines took the 1-0 lead when Briard was whistled for stalling in the second period of the heavyweight match. Briard escaped right out of the down start position in the third to even the match at 1-1 and send it to overtime.
After a scoreless opening overtime period, Hines once again took the lead with an escape in the second overtime period. Briard chose to start down in the third, and scored another escape to knot the match at 2-2.
Briard then managed to hold Hines down for the 30-second fourth overtime to score the match-winning point to take the 3-2 victory.
Tim Kreuger earned the other win for the Wildcats, pinning Nathan Gillis in the 182 match at the 2-minute mark.
For the Red Bulls, Trevor Schultz pinned Mario Gomez in the 113 match, taking just 57 seconds for the win.
River Valley then proceeded to rattle off three straight wins, with Conner Bertram beating Trenton Rossow 8-2 at 120, Sam Baier pinning Levi Bulfer at 2:35 in the 126 match and Gerritt Meidl defeating Remington Kuehl 8-5 at 132 to tie the match up at 12-12.
"I think our youth showed a little tonight. In the matches we lost I think we had opportunities to win but they didn't take advantage in those moments," said Tietje. "Wrestling is a sport where if you don't take advantage of that moment it is the difference between winning and losing a match."
Luis Figueroa had success for the Red Bulls in the 220 match, pinning Issai Ramierz at 1:58.
Collin Steuber, Harley Luhmann, Tanner Lange, Joe Weber, Phillip Bowie and Kory Brown each won by forfeit for the Red Bulls.
Fairmont/Martin County West (3-0) travels to Redwood Valley for the River Riots at 4 p.m. next Friday and Saturday.
