ARMSTRONG, Iowa - Services for Robert L. "Bob" Petersen, 75, of Armstrong will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong. The Rev. Vance Toivonen will perform the ceremony.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel, Armstrong.

Robert Lee "Bob" Petersen the son of William H.F. and Lola (Graham) Petersen was born Oct. 11, 1937, in Denison, Iowa. He died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Mission Hospital in McAllen, Texas, at the age of 75.

He received his education from Denison High School. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until 1959 and was stationed at Landshut, Germany.

On Feb. 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Sharon Thomsen in Fort Knox, Ky. Bob worked on the police force in Denison from 1959 until 1960. He then was employed with Hatfield Plumbing and Heating and Skelgas Heating and Plumbing from 1960 until 1964. In 1964, the couple moved to Carroll, Iowa, and Bob worked for Standard Oil Company until 1972, when he was transferred to Shenandoah, Iowa. In 1973, he was transferred to Armstrong, Iowa, and continued working for AMOCO Oil Company. In 1984, he purchased the fertilizer plant from AMOCO Oil Company. Bob owned and operated the Armstrong Ag Center until 2000, when he sold the company to Royster-Clark Inc. His hobbies:?Bob enjoyed golfing, cooking and his most favorite, fishing. Also most important to Bob was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Bob attended the Nazareth Lutheran Church and was a member of the VFW in Armstrong.

Left to cherish Bob's memory are his wife, Sharon of Armstrong; children, Pamela Faye and her husband, Dale of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Michael Lee Petersen of Forest Lake, Minn.; grandchildren, Joshua Petersen and his wife, Sara of Rochester, Minn.; Carissa Pfeffer who resides in Los Angeles, Calif.; and Kaitlin Pfeffer of Inver Grove Heights. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Petersen and his wife, Karen of Denison and other relatives and friends.

He has been preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Petersen; and brother-in-law, Loren Thomsen.

Bob will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
