FAIRMONT - Mark Lowell Kuehl, age 64, died Nov. 8, 2012, in Chicago, after a head injury in a fall three weeks earlier.
Mark was preceeded in death by parents, Max and Margaret (Lauer) Kuehl.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna Kuehl (originally from the Philippines) of Chicago; son, Wade Kuehl of Chicago; brother, Vaughn Kuehl of Fairmont; sisters, Marilyn (John) Posivio of Fox Lake, June (Alan) Cook of Anacortes Wash., Rhonda Kuehl (David Hoiland) of Minneapolis, LaRayne Kuehl of St. Paul and Elizabeth (Larry) Englund of St. Paul.
Mark was born Sept. 11, 1948, in Fairmont, Minn., and grew up on a farm in Galena Township (Martin County), where he attended a country elementary school. He graduated from St. James High School in 1966, and from Concordia College in Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1970. He began study at the Lutheran seminary in St. Louis, Mo., but then switched to nursing. He worked in various Chicago hospitals in psychiatric nursing, where he met Myrna. Their son, Wade, a college student, is 25.
Mark's passions in life were studying evolution and general science, and taking long (all-day) walks through city neighborhoods, and engaging in deep conversation.
Funeral Mass was held at St. Monica Church in Chicago, on Nov. 12. Interment is at Acacia Park Cemetery in Chicago.
