WELCOME - A Celebration of Life Services for Lois Handevidt, 84, of rural Welcome, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at United Methodist Church, 119 E. Second St., in Fairmont, Minn., with Pastor Tony Fink officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fairmont, Minn.
Lois died Thursday morning, Nov. 15, 2012, at Keelson Harbour in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Family Funeral Home, 71 Second Ave. S.E. in Trimont, Minn., and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Lois Fern Piltz was born May 28, 1928, to George and Caroline "Carrie" (Klussman) Piltz in rural Welcome, Minn., in the same house her mother was born in 1891. She attended school in District 14 Fraser Township to the eighth grade. Lois then attended the University of Minnesota Ag School, later graduating in 1948. She then was employed at the Fairmont Hospital as a nursing assistant. On March 9, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lewis Handevidt at the Salem EUB Church in Fairmont, Minn. After their marriage, they farmed in Elm Creek Township, rural Sherburn. Lewis died Nov. 15, 1974. Lois was employed as a Martin County Court Bailiff for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed traveling and traveled all over the world. Lois was a member of the Lois Club and traveled with them. She loved to cook and bake and was involved with 4-H. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Fairmont and the Martin County Historical Society.
She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly (Roger) Chlebecek of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Judy (Glen) Hemiller of Ormsby, Minn.; six grandchildren; Carrie Hemiller of Blue Earth, Minn.; Nathan Hemiller and his fiance, Jenna of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Michael Hemiller of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Mark (Dawn) Chlebecek of Baldwin, Wis., Tony (Lisa) Chlebecek of Cottage Grove, Minn., Kris (Tiffany) Chlebecek of Lakeville, Minn.; sisters, Betty Parsons of New Holland, Pa., and Carolyn (Walter) Abel of rural Welcome, Minn.; sister-in-law, Janice Handevidt of Sherburn, Minn.; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Lois is also is survived by her cat, Morris.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis Handevidt; son, Larry Handevidt on July 29, 1987; brothers-in-law, Harold Handevidt and Richard Parsons; sisters-in-law, Kathryn (LeRoy) Anderson and Margarieth (Merlin) Stahn; and other relatives.
Lois' family has designated Iowa Hospice, United Methodist Church in Fairmont, Crest or Martin County Humane Society for memorial contributions.
