FAIRMONT - Keith J. St. John, 89, of Fairmont passed away Friday afternoon, November 9, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 13 at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont with burial following in Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont with flag presentation by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and the Martin County V.F.W. Post 1222.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, November 12, at the Lakeview Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the Lakeview Funeral Home.
Keith Judson St. John was born on November 30, 1922, in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Judson and Rosa (Huntsinger) St. John. Growing up, Keith's family moved around and lived in Florida, Missouri, Ceylon and Fairmont. When Keith was 16, he volunteered for the CCC Program. On August 8, 1945, he was united in marriage to Carol Grant at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Shortly after their marriage, Keith entered the U.S. Army and served until his honorable discharge in September of 1947. They raised their family in Fairmont and Keith was part owner of the Fairmont Farm Store. After the store closed he worked as a full-time jailer at the Martin County Jail as well as a part-time police officer in Martin County. After 62 years of marriage, Carol passed on November 26, 2006. Keith moved to the Goldfinch Estates in 2007.
Keith and Carol loved to travel extensively and during retirement years wintered in Texas and Arizona. In their earlier years they enjoyed annual camping trips with the kids. Keith enjoyed restoring old gas engines in his spare time and was a life member of the Martin County V.F.W. Post 1222.
Those that will cherish his memory include four children, Connie Davis and her husband, Rolan, of Poncha Springs, CO, Cathy Jones of Fairmont, Cindy St. John of Fairmont, Craig St. John and his wife, Cathy, of Bloomington, Minn; five grandchildren, Blake Davis (Sandy), Trevor Davis (Charity), Kristi St. John, Laura and Lindsey St. John; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Connor and Paige; one brother, Larry St. John and his wife, Connie, of Calif; many nieces and nephews; favorite cat, Tiger; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Judson and Rosa St. John and wife, Carol St. John, Keith was also preceded in death by three sisters, six brothers, and a grandson, Jared Davis.
