To the Editor:
I am 22 years old and graduated from Fairmont Area School. I am currently enrolled at Minnesota State-Mankato and will graduate in December with a degree in elementary education. I could not have accomplished this without the opportunities I received in Fairmont.
When I think about what students might lose if the Fairmont school referendum does not pass, I become emotional. Music was a huge part of my life when I was younger and still is because of the great opportunities I received in the Fairmont schools. I had the chance to be involved in band, choir and the fall musicals. If I had not had the opportunities I received growing up, I would not be where I am today.
I am voting yes on Nov. 6 because of the generations before me that paved the way for me to receive the education I needed to grow. I am voting yes not because I am going into education, but because of how this town will be affected if it does not pass. I am voting yes because these children deserve to receive the same, if not better education. Please join me.
